Hadith no. 1: Actions are judged only by intentions
Arabic text:
إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى
Phonetic transcription:
Innamā al-aʿmālu bin-niyyāt, wa innamā li-kulli imri’in mā nawā
Translation:
Actions are judged only by intentions, and everyone will be rewarded according to their intention.

This hadith is the foundation of all intention in Islam. It means that it is not only the action itself that matters, but the intention behind it.

If a person performs a pious act to please Allah, they will be rewarded. But if they do it to be seen by others, they lose the reward.

Hadith no. 2: Islam is built upon 5 pillars
Arabic text:
بُنِيَ الإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ، وَحَجِّ البَيْتِ
Phonetic transcription:
Buniya al-islām ʿalā khamsin : shahādati an lā ilāha illa Allāh wa anna Muḥammadan rasūl Allāh, wa iqāmi aṣ-ṣalāh, wa i’tā’i az-zakāh, wa ṣawmi Ramaḍān, wa ḥajji al-bayt
Translation:
Islam has been built upon five [pillars]: the testimony that there is no deity but Allah and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, paying zakāt, fasting in Ramaḍān, and pilgrimage to the Sacred House (for those who are able).

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ
Phonetic transcription:
Man kāna yu’minu billāhi wa-l-yawmi al-ākhir, fal-yaqul khayran aw liyasmuṭ, wa man kāna yu’minu billāhi wa-l-yawmi al-ākhir fal-yukrim jārah, wa man kāna yu’minu billāhi wa-l-yawmi al-ākhir fal-yukrim ḍayfah
Translation:
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor.
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest.
