Surah Al-Kauther (الكوثر)…
Surah Al-Kauther is the shortest in the Qur’an
It consists of only three verses, but it is full of meaning and spirituality. It speaks of Allah’s generosity and reminds us of the importance of prayer and sincere sacrifice.
Al-Kauther refers to an immense gift
“Al-Kauther” refers to an immense gift that Allah granted to the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
“Al-Kauther is a river that my Lord has given me in Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari no. 4964, Sahih Muslim no. 400)
It is among the first surahs revealed.
The surah is Meccan, meaning it was revealed in Mecca before the Hijrah (622). This means that the Muslim community was still very small and marginalized, and the Prophet ﷺ was facing mockery, persecution, and insults.

Innā aʿṭaynāka al-kawthar
Faṣalli li-rabbika wanḥar
Inna shāni’aka huwa al-abtar

إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ
Innā aʿṭaynāka al-kawthar
Indeed, We have certainly given you the Abundance.

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ
